"Unhelpful receptionist "

About: Saltdean and Rottingdean Med Practice

I contacted the surgery to arrange an emergency call with a doctor due to concerns that without assistance I may end up having to go to hospital. The receptionist seemed more interested in getting me to call an ambulance, even though I stressed that it was not required yet, than letting me have a five minute call with a doctor. When a very helpful doctor did call she advised that she would ask the receptionist to send a prescription to the pharmacy straight away. When I went to the pharmacy they did not have my prescription and sent me back to the surgery. Obviously they would not even speak to me about it. It’s disappointing that I will probably lose about another pint of blood tonight thanks to your receptionist. At she may get her wish and I end up in an ambulance.

Dear patient,

I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with service that you have received from our practice. It is difficult to respond without knowing the full details so it can be investigated, but usually all prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy to avoid delay, this is done by the GP and wouldn't involve the receptionist at all. I am happy to look into this further if you would like to contact me either on the surgery number or via email (sue.ward@nhs.net).

Apologise again for any inconvenience caused.

Regards

Sue Ward Practice Manager
