"Exceptional care from ward A23"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

Sadly referred to ward A23, the early pregnancy unit (EPU) following bleeding in very early pregnancy. I was dreading going in but every single member of staff I spoke to was incredibly conscientious and personable. I imagine it may be difficult at times to maintain a positive environment in such a ward but good relationships between staff were evident and reassured me that there was clear communication between staff.

My partner and I had to sit in a side room for a short while a few times while waiting for reports to be communicated or rooms to become free but I feel this is very much to be expected and was handled with excellent care. This is a really nerve-wracking wait of course but the warm and reassuring staff made this plenty bearable.

The outcome of our visit was sadly negative but this was communicated quickly and with great care. What was a hugely unpleasant experience was made massively better by wonderful staff. My partner described the staff we met as "all just nice people all round, they didn't beat around the bush and were direct and caring, you couldn't ask for anything more". Whilst not a unit I'd hope people have to visit I'd recommend it to anyone.
