Attended accident and emergency at ulster hospital late at night in April 2020. Was experiencing severe palpitations along with tremors, muscles seizures and nausea with an inability to eat or sleep.
Staff were absolutely excellent! They were all very upbeat and friendly whilst following all covid hygiene procedures. The doctor who seen me diagnosed me with severe onset of heath anxiety after suffering from depression for a number of months and not getting treatment. She was compassionate and took time to put my mind at ease with an arsenal of tests to assure me I was OK.
Upon a second visit to the department the following night I was put under observation and encouraged to eat whilst I took a drug that finally eased my symptoms (fear of medications) the staff were busy but always took time to come and chat and help me feel at ease. Doctor on duty got a member of the mental health crisis team to attend my bedside and have me admitted to their outpatient care. I am very grateful for everything the staff within the A and E department did for me over those 2 days.
"Staff were absolutely excellent"
