My 8 year old daughter has episodes of left sided chest pain. The first time it happened she was hospitalised and fully investigated. Although she has been found to have intermittent arrhythmias switching from a first degree to second degree heart block we have been informed that the pain is not cardiac in nature. Diagnosis of growing pains. But we were informed if she starts collapsing then we need to bring her back for further assessments. This the end of last year.
The last few months the school has been concerned as episodes of left sided chest pain have been occurring. 2 weeks ago my daughter was relaxing on a sun lounger and went grey and clutches the left side of her chest. The pain was so intense it took her breath away. We took her for a medical assessment at our hospital ED found first degree heart block. Tried to ref to paediatric team who where reluctant to receive. The ED argued that they were not happy to send her home. The paediatric team took and monitored over night. Noted arrhythmia on monitor. Discharge as costicorhonditius. Received discharge letter stating that my daughter was complaining of right sided chest pain when she has left sided chest pain.
