I had an injury and headed to the A&E at GWH around 9pm, the team were very clear on the procedure because of Covid and I was seen by Shree very quickly who was very sympathetic and comforting. I was in a lot of pain and he helped calm me down and take care of me. Because of Covid, my partner had to wait outside in the car which is somethign for anyone to be aware of as you may be better going home and returnign later to collect your family member. Whilst there I had an X-Ray, CT scan (special shout out to the really nice radiography team!) and got stitched up. The doctor performing my stitches did a really great job considering the swelling, positioning and amount of bleeding, he was really careful not to hurt me and I really appreciated that he stayed on longer after his shift to take care of me - I apologise that I don't remember his name but he was a black doctor with long dreads - I had my stitches out today and they said what an amazing job he'd done.
I was waiting for a long time, I think I left at 5am but the care I received was so good and I felt very safe considering the situation with the virus. One of the nurses was particularly attentive, kept me udpated on when I would be seen, brought me pain relief and even offered me a sandwich :)
You guys are absolute heroes! Thank you to everyone in the team that I met and all those working behind the scenes - your work truly is appreciated.
"Thank you to the A&E team"
