"New booking system unsuitable for the elderly"

About: Lordswood House Group Medical Practice

Trying to get assistance for the elderly who do not have Internet access is very difficult. Whilst reception are helpful, my concern is it is just too frustrating for the elderly to use. As a result l feel they will not bother their GPs and as a result this will end up in hospital admissions or worse. The receptionists have difficulty enough getting to the phone and are now left dealing with the many questions over the telephone in order to submit the forms. It may be great for those with smart phones who have minor medical issues but not for the elderly who would never bother their GP unless absolutely necessary. This system for these individuals is a disaster waiting to happen!

Thank you for your comments about our new e-consult system.

When introducing this new system we were very mindful that some groups of patients will still need support from our staff via the telephone to help them with the new e-consult system and our trained Care Navigators are always available to help and guide patients.

Our aim is to equitably improve access to our service for everyone and provide as much continuity, in terms of the clinician that a patient sees, as possible.

If you feel you would like some additional support with our new service then please feel free to contact the Practice Manager at any time and we can discuss available options with you.
