I was brought into hospital to see out of hours gp for stomach pains and high temperature. Once I seen gp she advised that I needed to speak with doctors in a& e who would do more tests as she thought I may an appendicitis. Staff in a& e were lovely and doctor who was treating me was really reassuring as I was upset about having to stay in a I have a fear of hospitals and advised that I would be best for me to stay in the night due to my bloods showing up as sign of infection and wanted to consultant to see me in the morning and have scan done.
The doctor from a& e came up to check on me later that night. I was taken up to the general surgery ward where the nurse was lovely and kept checking on me throughout the night. When the staff changed over in the morning they were all really nice and nurse had said to me that I was having surgery and consultant would speak to me on his rounds and this made me feel anxious as I didn’t know what to expect.
Consultant spoke to me about my symptoms and said what they were going to do which was really reassuring and said the anaesthetist would come and speak to me. Anaesthetist was lovely and reassured me when telling what would happen and ask how I was feeling and got upset and calmed me down.
After I had my appendix removed staff were all brilliant and I was able to see my parents at visiting times and had the same nurse as the night before and she came across and spoke to me. The day after my op consultant came and spoke to me and told me what they had done and said that I would be able to go home. All the staff who were part of my care were amazing can’t thank them enough.
