"Poor practice "

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

I ended up in A and E, after falling down the stairs. I suffered trauma to my face and hand. I normally use Addenbrookes but was close to Harlow at this time. I am shocked by the care from the a and e clinic. The clinic was empty apart from myself and another patient. I was left for a long time bleeding. I had to request attention and water for myself. My nose was broken and I was shaking with shock. My finger was dislocated and the doctor performed reduction without any gas/air or pain killers. The strapping was appalling and looked like a three year old child had performed the medical procedure on a teddy. In fact, I am going to hospital today - as it looks like my finger is still dislocated. I have never been to such an awful hospital. The lady who was in charge in the morning - had little empathy or care. I know nurses work hard - and believe me there are some exceptional ones but this hospital needs attention. The cleaner was lovely and the maxi facial team. The rest dreadful. My doctors surgery were shocked with the discharge information from the hospital, very little on the form. In fact it felt like I wasn’t discharged properly with any advice but just thrown out by the lady in charge. I had know idea what exercise or pain killers to use on broken/dislocated finger. Dreadful experience - would never recommend anyone to use this A and E department.
