"Support for LAS from hospice"

About: London Ambulance Service NHS Trust St Lukes Hospice

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

SPA (Single Point of Access, Harrow) assisted us (London Ambulance Service) with our patient as we were able to help the patient and their family without having to take them into hospital. This provided the family with some peace of mind that the patient would be comfortable and that they would have some guidance through the next phase.

Thank you for your feedback on the Single Point of Access service. A key objective of the service is to help prevent hospital admissions for palliative care patients (where appropriate) as often a hospital admission would not be in their best interests. It is good to read that we were able to help LAS to achieve this and ensure that the patient and family had access to support at home.

Single Point of Access is a 24 hour advice and support service. Our aim is to facilitate and support patient and family member to care at home as longer as possible. I am glad that we were able to provide the help you required.
