My stepmum was admitted to Aberdeen Royal infirmary a week past Sunday and she was discharged on the Thursday with a home non-invasive ventilation kit to help her with her Type II respiratory failure.
She wasn’t very sure how to use the equipment and as a family we struggled over that weekend to support her to use it. We have since made contact with Trish, the home respiratory service lead nurse. Trish is amazing. Her patience and commitment to her job is commendable. She is supporting us daily to work with mum to help use the system.
She has listened to our woes and has offered us comfort and excellent advice. If you have an award scheme for staff who go above and beyond the job then I would like to nominate Trish. If you could see yourselves to invest more into the service to offer seven day funded support then we think this would be money well spent.
