"Staff wearing face masks"

About: Tameside General Hospital

(as a relative),

My father attended the hospital yesterday and was reassured to see the hospital policy of visitors required to wear face masks.   However, it was worrying that many staff (particularly maintenance staff) were either not wearing a mask in the public areas or had a mask tucked under their chin and not covering mouth/nose.   Surely it's as important that all hospital staff are wearing masks as it is patients?

Good afternoon

Thank you for your feedback, I am pleased your father was reassured regarding our policy of visitors wearing face masks.

It is a requirement that all staff members, patients and visitors who enter the hospital, must adhere to National Guidance and wear a mask as well as clean their hands using the hand sanitisers that are available across the Trust. Daily communications are sent to staff to remind them of the importance of adhering to this guidance and to be vigilant regarding the use of face masks, particularly when travelling across the site.

Once again thank you for raising your concerns and please be assured that we have shared your feedback with our Estates and Facilities Department so they can use your feedback to reiterate the importance of everyone wearing face masks.
