About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

I was with the musculoskeletal oncology (Sarcoma clinic) in Feb-mar 2020 for investigations. I went to ROH 3 times. They discharged me to the referring hospital without discussing the outcome of my investigations and sent my discharge letter to the wrong GP surgery. It was only when the referring hospital (Addenbrookes) rang me later to discuss treatment options that I found out what my diagnosis was (while waiting nervously and being unable to sleep for weeks when you are awaiting your biopsy results). Also the MacMillan nurse that I first saw for pre-assessment was non compassionate, rude and phlegmatic, talked to me and my family as if I had cancer even before further tests and a biopsy, she said she was sure (and thank God she was wrong) turned out I did not have cancer but it was devastating. I would recommend that their MacMillan nurses be given training on "Giving bad news" . But the nurses, HCAs and doctors who looked after me while on the ward as a day case for a biopsy were excellent and very caring. Personally I would not go there again.
