I rang Dr for appointment on Monday, Dr rang me back within 10 minutes for a telephone consult. Explained problem of pain in kidney area. Dr prescribed pain killers and diazapam for 6 days saying if still in pain in 3 to 4 days call again. No difference in pain in my lower back but now also pain in upper leg. Rang surgery on Friday and spoke to different doctor. This doctor informed me that bad cholesterol was high and to change my diet completely, and to drink more water. I already follow a more or less vegetarian diet and drink at least 4 pints of water a day plus tea and coffee. Dr made an appointment for me. Time given for appointment was 10.00. with this different doctor. Got there at 9.50 was still in waiting room at 11.15, no other patients had entered or left the surgery so believe I was the only one waiting to see the doctor, (other people were having blood tests and were in and out very quickly seeing the nurse. There was no interaction with any of the receptionists saying how long I would have to wait or apologising for the wait. At this time I gave up as I could not sit comfortably because of pain in my back. Receptionist who unlocked the door to let me out apologised profusely for the wait. This is not the first time I have had to wait over an hour in normal times to see the doctor. I understand because of covid there might be problems but as I said there was no one else waiting or in with the doctor. I feel most let down with the time I had to wait as being in a doctors surgery during these times, longer than necessary is not what I would call ideal, especially as my wife had to come with me (and is supposed to be shielding)as I rely a lot on lip reading as am partially deaf, and of course this is impossible when everyone is wearing a mask.
