About: Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73) / Labour suite The Princess Royal Maternity Unit (Glasgow)

(as the patient),

We wanted to reach out and leave a message for our amazing labour midwife - Ellen.  Having arrived at hospital on my own (due to covid) I was very nervous about going to the delivery room, however, I felt instantly calm and knew I was in good hands when Ellen introduced herself.

Ellen kept both my husband and I really well informed throughout every single step of the labour and she also managed to keep our minds preoccupied for hours on end asking us about our life story.

We can’t fault any of the midwives who came in to help during our labour, Ellen, Claire, Stacey and Kirsty the doctor, there were others but we never got all the names!  You were all so kind and helpful and made our experience one to remember in a good way.

We are so grateful for all the encouragement and advice we received and of course all the help to get our beautiful little girl safely into the world.  I hope this message finds you and makes you realise what an amazing job you are doing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Dear Lmcn,

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby!

Thank you so much for finding the time to post such lovely feedback about the care you received and I will be delighted to share this with the staff in labour ward and specifically the midwives and doctors you have mentioned. Could I please confirm which Unit within Greater Glasgow and Clyde that you delivered your baby and I will ensure that this is passed on directly to them.

It is specifically heartening to read that through this time, when there can be increased anxieties, that the calming attitudes of the midwife who met you put you at ease, it makes such a difference.

I hope that you and your new family are enjoying this special time together and that you are continuing to stay safe and well,

Many thanks and best wishes

Vicki Mazzoni

Hi Vicki,

Thank you so much. We seem to have settled in to a nice wee routine now - hope it lasts! I gave birth in the Princess Royal Maternity.

I think it’s great this website exists. I wouldn’t have known about it if my friend (who is also a midwife) hadn’t told me.

The staff on all wards were great - maternity assessment, ward 72/73 and postnatal. I ended up in all of them over the course of a weekend and everyone who I met was so kind to me.

Please pass on my thanks to your wonderful team.

Thanks

Lmcn
