"Old and Fed up."

About: Dundee Dental Hospital / Dental Services

(as the patient),

I am 63. I have ten teeth left in my mouth. I have been going there for years. was meant to get an appointment about two years ago for false teeth did not happen.

When I went just before lockdown  I had four teeth lose. They have been lose for years.   They said they would pull two. But they did not want to as the person said they can pin them to my other teeth. why when my mouth is a mess and always sore. so I said no just take them out. The person said ok. BUT we will only take two out and You will not get dentures. I agreed.

Now four-month of pain with lockdown.   I am way past my pain threshold. My mouth is a mess and it is all thanks to the Dental Hospital in Dundee. I was saying to my wife. Do they just give up on older people I am still working and paying my Tax and National Insurance? . I am on the basic wage. So I can not afford a private Dental care.   P. S. have had periodontal a few time but a waste of time cant clean them as my teeth are lose.

Dear Family 15

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry to learn of your disappointment with our service and that you have unresolved dental pain.

We would welcome the opportunity to help relieve your dental pain.

Urgent Dental Care Centres established at the start of lock-down continue to see patients to resolve dental pain and manage other dental emergencies. Dundee Dental Hospital has an Urgent Dental Care Centre operating. Please contact us so that we might arrange an appointment as soon as possible to resolve your dental pain.

Please note that during the COVID-19 pandemic, available dental services in the UK have been significantly reduced as a safety measure to protect patients and staff. This has meant that some treatments (including many denture cases) have unfortunately not been possible to provide. We are sorry that you may have been affected by this, but hope that you understand why the UK and Scottish Government took these steps.

Please note there is no walk-in service available currently due to COVID-19. People with dental pain or requiring emergency dental care for another reason, should call 01382 596990 in working hours or NHS 24 on 111 in the evenings and at weekends.

We hope to see you soon to make your mouth feel more comfortable and hope that this information is helpful.
