"Always difficult getting an appointment"

Getting an appointment at this surgery has always been difficult and not surprisingly during the Covid-19 pandemic it has not got any better. I have been quoted waiting times of 4 weeks for an appointment during non Covid-19 times and during these Covid-19 times it seems you generally have to be actually dying in order to speak to a GP, seems you get redirected to the practice nurses for any other ailments other than dying.

The other issue with this practice is that there seems to be a high turnover of doctors. There seems to be quite a regular change of faces so you can't be sure the GP you've seen will necessarily even be there for your next visit if you need continuing care. I know that the doctor who takes over your care will fully brief themselves on your needs etc, but it is quite disconcerting to see that level of turnover of staff and one wonders what the reason may be.

Dear Patient,

I'm sorry you had difficulty in obtaining an appointment during the pandemic. We have been providing the best service we can under these challenging conditions. Following NHS England guidance we've been operating a mainly triage service and when necessary doctors working remotely from home. The turnover of doctors has been due to a change in partnership with old partners retiring and locums providing cover for maternity leave. We currently have a strong clinical team including several doctors who have remained with the surgery for many years.
