I have received exceptional care and treatment from the oral surgery maxillofacial team over a number of years following a nasty accident sustained while cycling. From the administration of appointments, to the welcome at reception, the work of the radiographers, support of the nurses and of course the skill of the surgeons the service provided has been of the highest professional standard. But, equally important has been the warmth and care with which I have been treated. This departmental culture is of course testament to the high standards of every individual but, must stem in no small part from the example set by the head of department whose quiet, good humoured and deeply empathetic approach gives confidence and reassurance to all around him. It came as no surprise therefore, that I received such wonderful treatment once again this week. With great speed an initial assessment led to an invitation to attend and on arrival, after further investigation treatment was recommended and carried out. And, as ever all carried out with care and patience. The whole nation, quite rightly claps the NHS each week but, I would like to offer special applause for the dedicated maxfax team at the Cumberland Infirmary who represent the very best of what the organisation stands for. Keep up the good work.
