About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary West Cumberland Hospital

(as a relative),

My husband was taken to WCH in April and put straight onto ICU where the following day he was sedated, then two days later he was transferred to RVI ICU. He remained sedated on a ventilator for 11 days, during this he got clot on his lungs, this was the most scariest time we have ever been through but the nurses & doctors were absolutely fantastic keeping us informed of his journey through this horrible time, they took the ventilator out and put a tracky in.

Then they woke him - it was fantastic when the nurse said she asked him to squeeze her hand and he did, the nurse done a whatsapp video call to me so we could see each other even though my husband couldn't talk it was just soo nice to see each other, my husband finally come home after three weeks, I will be forever grateful to all the staff for the gift of LIFE they gave to my husband

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding the care your husband received at ICU at the RVI. Were are pleased that the staff kept you involved and informed throughout his journey and that they were able to facilitate a video call with yourself when he came out of sedation. We are pleased that your husband is now home and we will forward your feedback with the directorate involved who will share with the staff involved.
