"Hearing aid service during covid-19"

About: Woodend Hospital / Audiology and Hearing Aid Service

(as a relative),

My husband has hearing aids which helps with tinnitus. Normally it's not a problem if something goes wrong with them. No appointment required he just pops in by woodend and they are very helpful and will look at the problem and normally sort it there and then with a wee wait but generally he's never had a problem.

So when both hearing aids playing up he stopped in by and closed sign on the door with a number to phone so did this and was told to post them in via Royal Mail and they would look at them. Just as he was about to walk away a member of staff appeared but confirmed NO ROYAL MAIL POST IT IN.   There must be a better option than this being without your hearing aids for more than 10 days now and now suffering from migraines and severe tinnitus.

Hello there. I'm pleased to read that your husband's hearing aids are helpful in reducing his awareness of tinnitus.

We had to close our department at short notice and were unable to have close contact with patients at the time, hence why we could not accept the items. Our postal service is now operating well and patients are not having to wait more than a few days for items to be returned.

I would very much welcome an opportunity to discuss further if you wish and can be contacted at mark.mitchell@nhs.net.
