(as a service user),

Was invited to come in with my 3 week old due to concerns in his movement. Staff have been absolutely amazing and could not do enough for you. Covid-19 has not affected my visit whatsoever so please mums and dads, if you are worried about your little ones, don’t put off coming in because of Covid-19.

Dear Kristikeedus,

It was lovely to meet you and your little one today on our Children's unit. Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to feedback. I shall ensure that this is fed back to our team working on the Children's Unit today.

Thank you for also reassuring other families about seeking medical help and advice if they are concerned about their child. If their child is unwell we want to make sure they get the right diagnosis as soon as possible and they are cared for in the right place at the right time.

We are actively asking our parents, carers and families to please continue to seek NHS help through their GP or NHS 111 and the emergency department (A&E) if their child becomes suddenly unwell. Hospitals are safer than your own home if your child needs emergency care.

We have re-organised our Children’s Unit to protect children and young people who are being seen for conditions other than COVID-19 (coronavirus). We continue to work with our GP colleagues who have immediate telephone access to a consultant paediatrician for support as needed.
