I'm 91, I fell off my bike and broke the neck of my left femur. Two young women called an ambulance and sat beside me until the ambulance arrived and whisked me off to A. & E at Lincoln County Hospital. Quite promptly I was examined by a succession of medics and finally a surgeon who told me he would operate next morning. After a brilliant operation only a few days in hospital were needed before one morning it was agreed that I was fit to be discharged. That afternoon a complete bespoke consignment of medication was delivered and I was returned home to find that the necessary orthopaedic equipment was about to be delivered the same day. A physiotherapist who had seen me in hospital followed through in outpatients to set me on my way. I know that teamwork is, on the inside, tough and untidy. But on the outside, in this my experience, the coordination of multiple disciplines to effect my recovery has been seamless. Thanks to that I can now walk without a stick and I'm looking at my bike....
"Seamless teamwork"
