I visit for chemotherapy weekly. I went to clinic last week, before my treatment, and was dressed in an apron & gloves on entering the area. I'd already been told to wear a mask at all times when visiting the hospital by my oncologist. Last week I was the only patient in the chemo suite. I kept my mask on as did all the staff.
So I was shocked to visit A7 this week and find no patients in the chemo suite wearing masks! I asked the staff and they said it was personal choice. Masks are readily available. I just don't understand why patients are able to do this and put others and themselves at risk. They were all over 65, maybe 70. We aren't going to be able to leave the house until a vaccine is found. Our immune systems won't be able to cope with the virus. I'm now re-considering my treatment as I dont want to be infected with the virus. I've taken every precaution necessary to protect myself and think its irresponsible of others not to do the same, especially when staff are already putting their lives on the line to keep us alive. The staff are amazing, as always. I can't thank them enough for looking after me.
