I recently stayed at Tameside Hospital for 6 days around the birth of my daughter on April 10th which ended up being an emergency c-section.
I would like to say thank you to everyone I came into contact with during my stay. Even from the beginning of my pregnancy; the antenatal care and scans at the hospital were excellent.
As my labour didn't progress as expected, I ended up having a c section which was worrying but all the midwives, doctors and surgery staff were brilliant and put me at ease before delivering my baby safely.
As a person that has never had any reason to be admitted to hospital in their life, I found it a bit difficult to process all the interventions and the prolonged stay afterwards (especially with the coronavirus limitations- which were entirely understandable). All the staff on ward 27 looked after me amazingly and couldn't do enough to help. Especially as my husband could not visit or help out.
I had support from the infant feeding team as well who went above and beyond to help establish feeding and provided me with a loan pump to take home when things didn't work out straight away. They also arranged a tongue tie snip as an outpatient procedure. Everything is great now and I'm glad I didn't give up trying but I probably would have without the support.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the maternity services at Tameside. I really appreciate everything they did for us! Thank you.
