"Extremely poor service"

My 4 month old baby was involved in a car accident last weekend. I called the NHS helpline on the Monday morning to seek advice whether I should have her checked over by a doctor. They advised I should see a doctor within 2 hours. I did think this optimistic given the usual wait times at this practice but the operator reassured me I was priority & I had to be seen. It took me over an hour just to actually get through to anyone on the phone (!!) and then had to call several times to chase an appointment & nobody called me back all day. I finally was given an appointment of 5pm. When I explained the situation the receptionist really didn’t seem to care and just snapped there was already 9 people waiting for appointment. Luckily my daughter was ok but very stressful situation with a baby. Terrible service, I really hope it improves.

I am very sorry that you have had a bad experience and I would like to investigate to understand what went wrong and to help with staff training and service improvement.

I have tried to investigate this complaint based on the information you have provided, but unfortunately I cannot find the patient contact you are referring to. Please can you email the surgery (via our website) with your daughter's name and I will look into this and provide you with a full explanation and action plan to address any issues found.
