"Lack of staff PPE and social distancing"

About: Milford Hospital / X-ray department

(as the patient),

I decided to go to Milford Hospital for a chest X-ray as recommended by my doctor following a persistent cough. I thought it might be safer to go to Milford compared to Royal Surrey Hospital. I may have been wrong in that assessment because the admin reception had no facial mask or any other body protection equipment. They sat at maximum 2 metres from me whilst in waiting room.

The radiologist just had a conventional face mask which again concerned me.

The entrance to the building needed hand pushing I think on metal surfaces... it was not good and I should have turned around and left but did not have the courage to do so.

There was no-one in the waiting room when I arrived but on leaving I could not ensure the 2 metre rule from a patient who sat by the exit door with no mask or any other protection. He was around 40 years old and could have been a carrier of the virus.

I am now worried that I may have caught the virus through no fault of my own based on lack of basic hospital disciplines. As yet I do not show any symptoms but that is not the point.
