"Quinsy Throat"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 11b)

(as the patient),

Went to Dr Malik with a sore throat and he initially diagnosed tonsillitis and prescribed an antibiotic. ..Throat didn’t get any better and I was vomiting and couldn’t swallow or keep anything down.

Three days later was Re-examined and Dr Malik spotted an abscess in my throat. Bottom line was that I had Quinsy Throat and had to be admitted to hospital on the mainland. The E. N. T Specialist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow said “the G. P had done well in spotting the abscess” as it was quite far back in my throat and difficult to spot.

Following treatment and an overnight at the hospital I felt miles better and was discharged the following day. Quinsy Throat is a serious condition and can be fatal if not treated. I’m very grateful to our GP...Dr Malik ..for spotting it and all of the wonderful staff at the hospital. Thank You xxxxx❤️
