"Shocking"

About: Hetherington at the Pavilion

I'm not one to usually go online and leave negative reviews, however after a series lost tests I'm concerned that myself and fellow patients are not being given the correct treatment.

The first issue I have is that it took just under a year, to get one set of results from the hospital. I was having to constantly call or attend the surgery only to be told that the hospital computers were down (which I can understand). Receptionist would often promise to call back and keep me informed but this never happened. In the end I received my results from my doctor when i went in for an appointment completely unrelated.

My second issues is. over the past few months I have had 3 different tests that have been lost. I go into the surgery do my tests only to be told they have been lost. On two occasions both the doctor and nurse, asked me what I was being tested for!!!! I thought you guys knew!!!

It also seems i'm being tested for the wrong things! I have yet received another letter asking me to go back, and do another blood test. I was informed of different things... one receptionist telling me it was a new test... another telling it was a repeat. I asked why this was the case... the answer is they don't know!

I would suggest that you all sit down, and address the communication issue your staff have with each other. Please do not tell me take a test when my doctor hasn't even informed the nurse what to test for! So she tests for everything.. surly this costs the NHS more!!

Just to make matters worse, when I last came in for a blood test... my blood was taken without gloves! one virus was detected from an earlier test... when I questioned the nurse she mentioned it could be Ebola!!! then she proceeded to ask if I had traveled to Africa recently! Do your staff not know what the abbreviations are for different virus's! I was very upset by this... I thought I had Ebola. Oh I mustn't forget to mention, while having the most recent blood test, some of my blood fell on the floor. The nurse proceeded to it up without gloved hands using cotton wool!!!! Surly you would follow protocol on this.. even more so because I 'might' have Ebola.

I would like to know, what other types of cross contamination is going on in your surgery. I have a knowledge of this area, because of my line of work.. you do not wipe blood without gloves and you should pour bleach on that area and allow it to sit before cleaning up! Please tell your nurses this or retrain them.

If i behaved the way your receptions and staff have behaved, I would have been fired a long time ago from my job!!! this is unacceptable and dangerous! Both for your patients and staff themselves as they can be infected too. I don't care if they have vaccines.. vaccines will not protect them for certain types of hepatitis or HIV!

I am so shocked by all of this! If you care about your health and having a good re pour with your surgery please do not join here. I am looking to change surgeries in the new year!

Thank you for taking time to write this review, however, please understand that when comments are anonymous and not made through the practice directly it is difficult to respond fairly or constructively.

I am very concerned about the content of this feedback and can only suggest that you make an appointment to discuss this further with the Practice Manager in order that we can get a better understanding of what has gone wrong and if necessary improve the noted service and communication issues.
