"Excellent care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

I had attended hospital for a prostate biopsy, while resting after the procedure, the nurse detected a very low heartbeat and referred me to a doctor. The doctor recommended that I remain in hospital for a while so I could be monitored. I was wheeled to ward C6 and made comfortable. I was attached to heart monitoring device, and various procedures were undertaken including ECG, blood samples, BP, etc., all of these procedures were carried out making sure that I knew exactly what was happening. All the hospital staff involved were wonderful. Eventually a consultant visited and suggested the best solution for me was the fitting of a pacemaker to which I immediately consented. Later that day I was taken to the operating theatre and in 45 mins taken back to my bed having had the pacemaker fitted. I remained in hospital for a further 24 hours and the released with an appointment to return in 48 hrs to check that the pacemaker was working correctly. I duly returned for my appointment and everything is spot on. I am overwhelmed with the care and concern that has been afforded me , every single member of staff has been excellent and I will be forever grateful. Many, many thanks.

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely feedback. Its really important to us that our patients get the best possible care and I'm pleased that this seems to have been the case when you attended.

I'll certainly be sharing your comments with the staff involved who will be pleased to receive this especially at this very challenging time.

Keep well and thanks again

Kind regards

Marion
