I had attended hospital for a prostate biopsy, while resting after the procedure, the nurse detected a very low heartbeat and referred me to a doctor. The doctor recommended that I remain in hospital for a while so I could be monitored. I was wheeled to ward C6 and made comfortable. I was attached to heart monitoring device, and various procedures were undertaken including ECG, blood samples, BP, etc., all of these procedures were carried out making sure that I knew exactly what was happening. All the hospital staff involved were wonderful. Eventually a consultant visited and suggested the best solution for me was the fitting of a pacemaker to which I immediately consented. Later that day I was taken to the operating theatre and in 45 mins taken back to my bed having had the pacemaker fitted. I remained in hospital for a further 24 hours and the released with an appointment to return in 48 hrs to check that the pacemaker was working correctly. I duly returned for my appointment and everything is spot on. I am overwhelmed with the care and concern that has been afforded me , every single member of staff has been excellent and I will be forever grateful. Many, many thanks.
"Excellent care"
