Forget about ever getting a referral. You will be denied without a substantive reason. They get very defensive if you ask for the legal basis for denial of care.

I was told - without any tests whatsoever and no diagnosis - that "nothing" could be done for me. Well how could you know this if you haven't done any tests or provided a diagnosis?

I have a life threatening medical condition and the GP sarcastically asked me if I thought I was going to die.

I ended up going elsewhere and received a diagnosis and treatment plan and total resolution of symptoms.

We apologise for the lateness of our response but thank you for your feedback and we are sorry you felt that you were being denied a referral without good reason. We are pleased that you have had a total resolution of your symptoms. It is obviously not possible or appropriate to discuss individual referral decisions in a public forum but we would like to reassure you that we have a policy of discussing possible referrals to secondary care, whether suggested by the doctor or the patient so as to ensure best care and safety. If you feel it would be helpful to discuss things further please do not hesitate to contact the practice manager, Kemi Olayiwola at the surgery.
