"My care at Pilgrim"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Colorectal surgery Pilgrim Hospital / General surgery Pilgrim Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I would like to wholly congratulate the amazing team lead by Mr Rao of Pilgrim , Boston Hospital, who sorted my recent small bowel blockage, without whom I wouldn't be typing this now.

My 27 day stay cumulated in a emergency open surgery and I can't praise the level of care afford to me, highly enough. Mr Rao had to pull together a sizable team at short notice for my operation, including a urologist, Mr Mouka who was there to check my recent urostomy was correct and functioning, during and after my bowel operation, not to mention an intensive care bed. All the staff treated me exceptionally well and the level of care was amazing, even down to the daily visit from the stoma nurse to see if I needed any supplies or help with anything.

The whole team pulled together and got me through the very stressful episode. I can't imagine the stress surgeons must feel, with another's life in their hands.

I feel there are far too many negative comments about Pilgrim Hospital probably because complaining is easier than praising exceptionally good work.  Pilgrim is a very busy hospital and under a lot of pressure with funding, staffing, beds etc and I think they do a wonderful job, under very trying and stressful conditions.

THANK YOU Mr Rao and your wonderful team for keeping me alive and healthy.
