I was transferred from Cramlington Critical Care to the Freeman after two myocardial infarctions, the second a particularly bad one occurring in Cramlington itself. I was taken to the coronary critical care unit. After being assessed and monitored overnight I was sent to a small pre op Ward24/24A. All of the staff were excellent providing super care and ensuring I was comfortable given my distressed state. They also reassured me on the forthcoming angioplasty. Eventually I was taken for the procedure which culminated in 6 stents before being taken back to my ward for further monitoring. Once stabilised I was taken to a subsidiary ward 24/24A for post op care. Once again the provision of care was of an excellent standard with staff engaging patients in a caring, knowledgeable and empathetic manner. You felt they really cared - they made you feel special and your circumstances were unique to them.
Any hospital experience can be a distressing time but all of the participants in the Freeman from my admittance to discharge was of a world class standard. It made a distressing time for me bearable.
Well done.
