What I liked
This is an issue about my discharge from the Medical assessment ward. There were problems which I shall write about below but the one positive thing is that I received a phone call from the ward sister who seemed sympathetic and made several promises to address the issues I raised with her as best she could. However...
What could be improved
I was discharged in the morning of July 13th with the wrong discharge papers. I didn't realise the mistake until I got home and, as I had the other person's name, address, medical history and current diagnosis I wrote to him offering to send these papers to him.
I received a phone call from a ward sister, detailed above, which promised many things, some of which may actually come to pass however, I was told that this particular ward sister had never come across an incident like this before. She asked who the nurse was who gave me the papers so that the issue could be addressed and I gave her more than enough information for that person to be identified.
Shortly after this call I got a call from the partner of the person whose papers I had been given and almost the first words out of her mouth were "Oh, it's always happening." And she told me they had taken other peoples papers home on numerous occasions.
Clearly there is something badly wrong here, perhaps a round of performance related pay cuts may be the answer?
Anything else?
What else is there to say? Perhaps I shall have further comment should the hospital fail to identify the nurse who gave me the wrong papers and failed to do even a basic identity check such as asking my date of birth.,
"Scarily unprofessional."
