"AAA screening and surgery"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Vascular Surgery University Hospital Ayr / Vascular Surgery

(as a service user),

Went in for the 65year old AAA screening. Immediately told there was a problem. The speed and care with which I was put through all the tests and procedures was fantastic. I would like to thank Mr. Boom and all the staff at Ayr and Crosshouse hospitals for their attention and advice leading up to my referral and very successful operation. I feel very relieved that this screening program exists and am an example of its success. As such I have urged everyone I know to take it seriously when their time comes, it really is a life saver.

All credit however goes to the staff at these hospitals for their quick response to my situation. You show the NHS at its best.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience and importance of the AAA Screening Programme. I am extremely pleased to read of your positive experience.

Please continue to encourage friends, relatives and colleagues to uptake the scan when it is offered via the Programme.

I will ensure your post is shared with the team running the screening programme and those who provided the care and treatment to you when your aneurysm was diagnosed.

kind regards

Karen Andrews, General Manager, Surgical Services
