"Awful service at Urgent Treatment Centre "

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

Called NHS 111 and doctor recommended going to A&E. Arrived at A&E for Children and were seen fairly quickly by a nurse. So far so good. Nurse decided our 7 month old baby could be seen by the GP in the Urgent Treatment Centre (walk-in) and said that if they wanted A&E to see him they could always refer him back. We walked down to the UTC and it was a tiny room crammed full of patients with standing room only. The wait time was in excess of 2hrs even for a 7month old baby. There was no where for us to sit or any privacy to nurse my baby. If you weren’t sick before, you’d likely leave having caught something from one of the other patients waiting since the room was so over crowded. Decided since A&E nurse decided baby wasn’t urgent enough to see a doctor in A&E that they can’t feel his illness was serious enough, and promptly left before he caught anything else or started screaming the place down! Absolutely awful service!
