"Not great "

About: Trent Pts

Was very dissatisfied with the long gaps between appointments, two sometimes three weeks. Every session I felt was groundhog day. The counselor never made notes and seemed to ask me the same questions every session forgetting details I had already disclosed. Was questioned on three different sessions on my decision to carry on breastfeeding my toddler. Which I found upsetting, irrelevant and discriminatory. On one occasion I was given homework to do which in the next session was not followed up. Felt I was wasting my time and theirs. The counselor often looked bored I witnessed them yawning. Felt the counselor tried to downplay my grief and didn't help me understand my emotions. Felt unable to disclose the suicidal feelings I'd been experiencing at the time. I used to leave the sessions feeling extremely upset. With exception to the first session I was not given an opportunity to provide any feedback. The counselor never asked what I thought about the sessions. In the last session the counselor went through the PHQ 9 and other questionaires verbally with me but filled in the answers themself I could not see what was written. This I thought was suspicious behaviour. Surely I should have been the one filling out the questionnaires as had happened in all previous weeks. I had never opened up to anyone in my life before and felt very vunerable and found the service I received when I needed it most was not understanding, unprofessional and disappointing. Wish I had the money to pay for better care.

I am sorry to learn about your experience - your description falls well below our standards and expectations of our staff and as such is a concern for me. As you are aware these forums are anonymous and as such I would like to ask you to contact myself (Darren Warren, Service Manager on 01332 265659) so we can discuss this obvious issue and resolve it; to ensure that you get the service you should receive [whilst helping us address any poor professional standards].
