I was admitted overnight to Phoenix ward after having a possible TIA (which thankfully was not confirmed) and I was incredibly impressed with the care and compassion which was shown to the other patients, two of whom were very unwell following acute strokes. I could hear and see how much attention these two patients received from all the staff and how they were treated with dignity and professionalism. As an ex-Registered Nurse myself, I realise how important this was for any possible recovery and for the comfort of these patients. From the lovely lady who provided the food and the drinks to the night nurses and the consultant who very carefully assessed my suitability for discharge home everyone was caring and kind. I felt that if I ever I had to return here I would feel safe and carefully rehabilitated. I hope and pray that I never suffer a stroke but at least I know there is superb care here despite the shortcomings of the NHS at this time. Thank you Phoenix Ward!
