"Urgent biopsy 3 months and still waiting for…"

About: Chapel Allerton Hospital

Totally unacceptable service. Has biopsy done on 02/12 told urgent referral and would have results within 6 weeks. It’s now 3 months later and no sign of results, every time I phone no one knows what’s going on and I get a different story every time.

I asked for my sample back to have looked at privately but said not possible, asked how long results would be and just told don’t know.

Said it’s not their fault and blamed pathology for the delays but at the end of the day it’s them advising the time for results and surely they know about the delays!!

Once they have taken your sample it too late and your stuck in this unacceptable system, if you can afford it go privately and save your self 3 months of this stress. If a private hospital can get biopsy results in under a week why is it taking over 3 months for urgent referrals through the NHS??

False promises and misinformation is all I can say.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

I am very sorry to hear about the delays with your results and understand that this must be a very worrying time for you. Hopefully, you will have heard something by now.

If you have not had your results I would happy to look into the matters you have raised, however, there is not enough information included in your post for me to investigate further, I would therefore ask that you contact our Trust’s Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS).

This would allow us look into the matters you have raised and contact the relevant management to see why there has been a delay. This would also allow us to see what lessons we could learn from your experience.

Please call our Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0113 206 6261 or alternatively email patientexperience.leedsth@nhs.net
