"The hospital won't stop visitors who cause my wife distress"

About: Warrington Hospital

(as a relative),

My wife has early onset vascular dementia with diabetes and has cancer. She has been given about 6 weeks to live .

We have been estranged from a relative for almost 9 years and whilst my wife still had enough brain in her she stated that she wanted nothing to do with this relative.

I have both types of L.P.A. in place for my wife. Our relative has found out my wife is in hospital and keeps visiting! But the problem is that this person keeps upsetting my wife because she no longer knows who they are and  when she get's worked up too much the staff want to sedate her. Whereas I can calm her down within 2 mins because I'm the only person she still remembers .

I've tried to have our relative stopped from visiting but even though I have an L.P.A . the hospital does not respect this, even though on the N.H.S. website it states that they can refuse visitors if they cause a problem for the patient? But all they keep saying is they are related and keep allowing access even though my wife is stressed through all of this and they won't listen to me or my concerns.

Even the PALS complaints people came down on the side of the hospital which is against the advice given to me by the office of the public guardian.

We are very sorry to hear about any situation where our patients or their families are not having the best experience while in our care. We have looked into this and understand that your complaint is already being dealt with directly so it would not be appropriate to comment further on this forum.

Thank you,

So it would not be appropriate to comment further on this forum?

Is that your way of telling me to be quiet and go away with my problem because as an organisation you are a law unto yourselves and have already decided the outcome of any complaint before you even look into it?.
