"Untold diagnosis"

About: Stewartry

(as a service user),

I was not told I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia for 8 years.

I found out on a recent visit after many years of Dr appointments looking for answers. I am angry as I did a two week series of tests in 2012 with no outcome given. I only found out two months ago that I have been living with fibromyalgia.

The person who was looking into the series of tests left and I was never updated. I am angry at having gone 8 years without knowing this is on my medical notes and I was never told until now.

Dear Kt55,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Naturally I am disappointed to hear that you did not receive your diagnosis for such a long period of time, and I can appreciate how frustrating this must be for you. Without knowing the full history of your journey, I am unable to provide you with any answers as to why it took so long for you to be given the information, and on behalf of NHS Dumfries & Galloway, I would like to apologise for any distress this has caused you.

If you would like to pursue this further, please contact the Patient Experience Team on 01387241690 or by email on dumf-uhb.dgpatietnexperience@nhs.net

Thank you once again for bringing this to our attention, and I look forward to hearing from you should you decide to contact the Patient Experience Team

Kind regards

Alexis
