"My autistic daughter with respiratory problems"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Respiratory medicine Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Xrays & Scans

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter has came into A&E with really bad croup which was also causing her severe distress especially as she is non verbal autistic. Throughout every member of staff from the nurse, to the porter, the lady who took her xray and the paeds nurses that looked after her with such kind warmth.

They looked after my daughter with the utmost professionalism and understanding. It became quite overwhelming the amount of care they gave her. Letting her play with certain equipment to let her settle and showing her how things work.

They settled my daughter on a numerous amount of occasions but always took the opportunity to make sure we were relax and looked after.

We will never be able to thank these people but they are special people.

Many thanks for your lovely comments. It must be such a scary experience for your daughter in a busy Emergency department. I am pleased we were able to help and reassure her.

I do hope she is feeling better.
