"Good Care.... BUT!"

About: Fairfield General Hospital

My son was admitted from NMGH to Fairfield on 6/7 February with a kidney problem. He had an ultrasound scan and a CAT scan very quickly, however, his kidneys continued to be a cause for concern as his blood tests showed continuing renal failure. On 13/2/2020 were told that he would be referred to the renal unit at Salford Royal hospital within 48 hours, we welcomed that decision, however, despite asking every day he is still on ward 14 (ENT/Medical) waiting for a bed to be available in the renal unit with no indication how much longer he has to wait! This is so frustrating. The staff on ward 14 have been lovely and we have no complaints against them.I worked as a sister in the NHS for over 30 years. I fully understand the difficulties and pressures faced by the NHS, however, my concern right now is to get my son transferred to a specialist unit where he can have the kidney biopsy and treatment he so desperately needs.
