In the past 8 months I have been suffering from recurring UTIs (4 already) and when I had the latest one I was given a course of antibiotics (different than the one they gave me before) but it didn’t work so I called them again a couple of days after finishing the course and they prescribed me a stronger course that didn’t work either. I went back to see the other doctor and he said he can’t prescribe me another course because there’s a big possibility it won’t work either (mind you I had to ask him repeatedly to look at my medical history on their system to see what the other doctor prescribed) he decided to take a Urine sample to test it and I never got any results.
I have to mentioned that they lost one of the samples that I gave them before and only told me they need a new one when I asked a week later for the results. Another thing is that the doctor was asking me if having a UTI is something that I worry about getting in general and maybe that’s why I keep getting them. He made it sound like it’s a psychological issue that I’m making up. I told him it’s not psychological but I do worry about taking so many antibiotics and leaving this UTI not fully treated.
Because of that treatment and the way they took a very long time to do anything about my case I felt very discouraged to follow up and just went with his advice of drinking plenty of water but about a month later my UTI got so much worse and I had very sharp pain in the kidneys and had to go to A&E where again I was given a very strong course of antibiotics and requested to see a urologist to get to the bottom of this.
Recently I had a severe cold where I lost consciousness and had very strong pain in my ENT my guess was all the antibiotics have weakened my immune system and when I went to the doctor he agreed but he didn't check my temperature and at the very end asked me if I wanted him to check my sore throat which he did and his only recommendation was take paracetamol and rest. I understand if there isn’t much to be done about my case but I would have appreciated more care and attention instead of feeling dismissed until my case got much worse.
