About: Lanarkshire Community Services / GP Out of Hours service

(as a parent/guardian),

We had an out of hours appointment in Airdrie for our 2 year olds who from suffers recurrent ear infections and gets very unwell very quickly.

The waiting area was exceptionally busy and there only appeared to be one GP, one nurse and one auxiliary on 

Despite how busy it was, the GP Dr Kumar was exceptionally attentive and thorough throughout the consultation. He asked us to wait so he could monitor our son and kept coming out to check on us. He was very empathetic and was apologising for the length of time we were there but there was no need for him to apologise. The service was excellent despite the exceptional demands and pressure that the staff are expected to work under.

The only concern was that there only appeared to be one thermometer between the three members of the team which was not idea and placed additional and unnecessary  stress on the team.

I am delighted to hear that your experience at Airdrie OOH Centre by Dr Kumar and the team was positive and your son received the necessary treatments and observations required.

Within the OOH centres we have recently purchased new thermometers to ensure that all clinicians have individual diagnostic equipment and are therefore not required to share.


I hope you son remains well and thank you again for taking the time to share your story, I will pass on your kind remarks to Dr Kumar and the OOH Team.
