About: Library House Surgery

Rang at 9.40 on the 12/02/2020 explained to person upstairs that I had a small pea like lump on my clavicle had it for 3 / 4 weeks and I would like appt to see someone as I was going on holiday for 3 weeks on monday 17th to india so would like to see someone as I was worried,I was told by this lady that there were no appt until around 27th feb ,I explained again I was away for 3 weeks and was told well you didnt bother to make appt over the last few weeks and now your going on holiday you want one ,she then told me to ring back next week ,I explained that I didnt bother making a appt when I first found the lump as I thought nothing of it but as I was going away for 3 weeks did not want to leave it until I got back...I was told I was not entitled to a on the day appt , I was upset and told the person I would report this if I later found out that the lump was something serious she just said ok I will note your message,I have never been talked to by a receptionist with no medical knowledge like this before,

1 hour later I recieved a phone call to say if I could get to surgery in 10 mins I could have appt strange ?????

I saw a lovely trainee dr who examined me then sent for a senior doctor and I am now having a blood test and a scan has been arranged for when I come back from holiday .....the receptionist should not have the power to say whether a appt is nesseccary , I was very upset at the disgraceful attitude such a shame I cannot name this person its wrong because if you do not know who it is how can you speak to them about there attitude

Dear Patient

I am sorry to hear about your recent experience. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need to discuss things any further.

With regards to your concerns I must state that our care navigation team do not make clinical decisions over who is given what type of appointment, this is always done by a clinician but often relayed to patients by our care navigators.

The correct outcome was for you to be seen on that day, it would have been better if we made that happen at the outset.

Please accept my apologies for any upset or frustration caused.

Best regards

John Norcross

Practice Manager
