"Outstanding care"

About: Provide

My 2 year old son was rushed into hospital with suspected meningitis. The paramedics and ambulance crew arrived quickly and were efficient. They were calming and reassuring at this scary time. We then reached resus at children’s A and E. The three main staff that cared for my son there were absolutely outstanding. They were very informative, they did everything they possibly could to ensure he got the right care at the right time and they were great with me and my partner running around grabbing us cups of coffee (even though they were completely rushed off their feet). They made us feel like our son was the only patient at the time.

There was a long wait for a bed on a ward but they ensured that not only our son was comfortable, but me and my partner were too bringing us blankets. You can’t put a price on the care they gave. The ambulance crew who brought us in popped back in to see how our son was doing which I thought was so lovely.

We then got placed on E5 and the staff on there were great too and nothing was any trouble for them.

Thankfully, it turned out that my son had a viral infection which had caused a pin prick rash and a very high temp, as well as other things. We were out within 3 days and our boy was better just in time for Christmas. We can’t thank all the staff enough, especially the A and E staff for their incredible dedication to their jobs.

I work within the NHS with hope to progress into a nursing career. if I, one day, could potentially be a nurse as good as the ones that took care of my son that first night, I will count myself extremely lucky.
