Ruptured Achilles tendon. Went to A&E 5 weeks later - friendly & speedy treatment there and temporary plaster cast fitted. Was advised my long-term treatment plan would be decided after an MRI, which would be requested urgently. I could expect to be telephoned 'in a few days'. I called the fracture clinic 5 days later to enquire about the appointment and was told there was nothing on file. I asked again the following day, when I attended to get the plaster cast replaced, and was again told there was no record. Four days after that, I received a letter stating that I had failed to attend the appointment which had been made for me (on the day after I'd been at the clinic!) at another hospital. I had had no letter or phone call.
I called that hospital's number where the friendly staff member found my records and told me that the appointment had been requested the day after my A&E visit; the appointments department had telephoned the original hospital , spoken to a member of staff, told them of my appointment and was told that they would let me know immediately!,
