Positive experience initially as got on quite well with a psychologist who left. All staff were lovely but when the change happened there was no continuity. Second pair had a very different focus and I started to dread my appointments. I felt like they didnt get it and when I read my notes i found out why. They were a mix of old and new records badly put together loads of mistakes and assumptions not so sure i got my full notes due to gaps. A psychiatrist I never met wanted me discharged but appts carried on for a while. I did see 2 other psychiatrists for meds reviews. 1st one was pushy 2nd one a little more laid back but both were not there to listen more to confirm their own thoughts.
Staff were great, did I feel listened to initially yes but not as time went on. I felt like they have this idea of people and if you don't fit their idea of a certain diagnosis you are dismissed off hand. I had a phone conversation where i was trying to explain I was struggling and in my head i was so brushed off i had visions of them typing reports or filing their nails while talking to me. No doubt staff member was just very busy.
It's a busy place understaffed high turnover so I was lucky I got what I got when I did. I disengaged but was due to finish with them anyway as i wasnt making progress. My priority at the time was surviving as i was hit with a period of low mood which they brushed off.
They could do with more funding, better record keeping, continuity of care and to realise that we don't all fit in a diagnosis box. They do the best they can with what they've got but it all feels very stale and jaded.
