"Underfunded"

Positive experience initially as got on quite well with a psychologist who left. All staff were lovely but when the change happened there was no continuity. Second pair had a very different focus and I started to dread my appointments. I felt like they didnt get it and when I read my notes i found out why. They were a mix of old and new records badly put together loads of mistakes and assumptions not so sure i got my full notes due to gaps. A psychiatrist I never met wanted me discharged but appts carried on for a while. I did see 2 other psychiatrists for meds reviews. 1st one was pushy 2nd one a little more laid back but both were not there to listen more to confirm their own thoughts.

Staff were great, did I feel listened to initially yes but not as time went on. I felt like they have this idea of people and if you don't fit their idea of a certain diagnosis you are dismissed off hand. I had a phone conversation where i was trying to explain I was struggling and in my head i was so brushed off i had visions of them typing reports or filing their nails while talking to me. No doubt staff member was just very busy.

It's a busy place understaffed high turnover so I was lucky I got what I got when I did. I disengaged but was due to finish with them anyway as i wasnt making progress. My priority at the time was surviving as i was hit with a period of low mood which they brushed off.

They could do with more funding, better record keeping, continuity of care and to realise that we don't all fit in a diagnosis box. They do the best they can with what they've got but it all feels very stale and jaded.

We have passed your comments onto the management at Lyndon and they have replied that it’s always sad to get negative feedback and can assure the author, it is their aim to provide a professional service for all patients/Service users without any prejudices. They ask that If patients have a problem with the service or with members of staff whilst in their service, that it is brought to the management’s attention as soon as possible so they can try their best to reach an early resolution. They also said that they have many patients with various types of diagnosis and we don't put patients/people in box's to suit ourselves or the service, sending apologies if you felt that this was the case. We also would like to inform you that we have an excellent PALs service who may be able to offer you support if you wished to discuss this further, they can be reached on Freephone 0800 953 0045 from 8am-6pm.
