"Wasn't too pleasant"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

Aunt was admitted to ward 53 of the Langlands unit. Although a handful of the nurses were pleasant and helpful, I found a good number who weren't. A couple in particular, including health care support workers, who had their faces tripping them and I must say their tone of voice wasn't too pleasant either. In my opinion it seems a poorly managed ward, not the cleanest either. Improvements definitely needed.

Dear Lou5457

In the first instance thank you very much for taking the time to post your recent experience at the Langlands unit. I am disappointed to note your comments and sincerely apologise. This is not what we would expect and as a consequence I shall notify the Chief Nurse responsible for that unit. I am more than happy to request that they contact you to discuss this further in order that we may learn a bit more about your experience and action any changes we require to make ensuring improvements.

Many thanks once again, we appreciate you feedback.

Best wishes

Sheila

Dear Lou5457

I was so sorry to read of your experiences in ward 53 and the poor communication and courtesy you received from some of the staff. We work very hard to provide a clean, welcoming environment and deliver care to a high standard. I and the Senior Charge Nurse for the ward would like to again apologise, but importantly learn from your experience.

In order for us to learn and put in place any required changes, and if it would be helpful to you, I would be grateful if you could email me with your details and we can look into your concerns further and provide you some direct feedback. My contact email is: morag.gardner@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Kind regards

Morag

Chief Nurse
