Dear Sir/madam,
Having recently had a Urodynamics test conducted at Good Hope hospital I would like to mention a couple of things.
The leaflet I received was sufficient, however the experience did not match the procedure outlined. My experience was of much more pain and discomfort than outlined. The catheter caused intense stinging in passing through the prostate. This was mercifully brief. Either this is normal or the anaesthetic gel isn’t that strong. Where the leaflet mentions a small catheter being inserted into your rectum in reality it was a larger than expected device that was inserted with what felt like little care. Perhaps a more ergonomically designed device would be suitable for this area of the body. For someone who has a history of anal fissures this was a real concern.
I feel the leaflet from Good Hope needs some more detail.
Many thanks.
