"Maternity care"

About: General practices in Lothian Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I cannot speak highly enough of the care we have received throughout my pregnancy, during the birth of our daughter; and that continues presently during our first whirlwind months as new parents.

We had a straightforward pregnancy but an unexpectedly complex birth. Both my partner and I are grateful beyond words for the expertise of the team around us at that time, their compassion and professionalism. We could not have asked for more.

In particular we would like to thank Dr Chiswick, consultant obstetrician, Dr Simpson, obstetric anaesthetist, and Amber, midwife / nurse in charge of ward 211.

Also Julie, the midwife, and Megan, the health visitor from Tollcross Health Centre, Edinburgh.

Dear LL-2020

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of using Maternity Services, I know how busy you must be with a baby to care for.

It is unfortunate that following a straightforward pregnancy you had a complicated birth but I am so glad that you and your partner now have little girl and felt well cared for throughout your experience.

Thank you for the kind comments regarding the staff. I will share your comments with all the staff you have mentioned and I know they will be delighted that you found them to be compassionate and professional.

I hope you and your partner are adjusting to life with a baby and enjoying every moment that parenthood brings.

Regards

Frances

Hello Frances,

Yes we are enjoying our new family life very much! Our baby is just a wonderful little person.

I’m so glad you will be able to pass this thanks and praise on to the staff who so deserve it.

I will always be grateful to each of them.

I know that most services are under pressure in terms of time and other resources at the best of times. We had our baby in September, which I believe is the busiest time for maternity services! I could see how very busy things were around us at that time, but we never once felt our care was rushed. At every moment I felt that we had the full time and attention of the staff looking after us. I cannot tell you how much that meant, because of course to us these were some of the most pivotal and profound moments of our lives!

That is just another aspect of the brilliant casts we recurved. I really do think it is a world-class maternity / natal care service we have here in Scotland.

With many thanks,

LL-2020
